Karen Mandell E- RYT 500
Studio Owner/Teacher

 

Karen began practicing yoga in 1998 as a means to escape her fast paced life as a fashion executive in New York City. She soon discovered how a regular yoga practice brought a much needed balance to her life on both a physical and spiritual level as well as a deeper connection with herself and the world around her. She was called to teaching in 2009 and received her 200-hour certification from the Bright Spirit Yoga Teacher training with Jillian Pransky and Carrie Parker. She later went on to receive her 300-hour training and certification at ISHTA Yoga in NYC with Kavi Yogiraj Alan Finger. Karen also received her Advanced Level Restorative and Therapeutics Yoga Training with Jillian Pransky at Yoga Works as well as her  Yin Yoga Levels 1 &2 certification with Ulrica Norberg and additional Yin Yoga  trainings with Sarah Powers and Paul Grilley.

 

She began teaching to teachers herself in 2013, sharing what was shared with her by these masters in various teacher training programs as well as her own Sattva Yoga Restorative Yoga training and Yin Yoga training.

 

Karen delights in teaching family yoga as well, she received both her her Kid's and Family Yoga training with Karma Kids as well as Post-Natal and Yoga Mom Buddha Baby Training with Jhotyi Larsen in 2011.

 

Classes with Karen invite a joyful opening in body, mind, and heart. Her classes are tailored from the traditional ISHTA lineage of chakra-based vinyasa yoga. ISHTA stands for the Integrated Science of Hatha, Tantra and Ayurveda.  Her classes combine the graceful flow of Vinyasa yoga and the mindful alignment of Iyengar yoga with balancing pranayama (breath), kria and meditation techniques. The word Ishta translates from sanskrit as "that which resonates with the individual spirit". She believes that yoga is all about finding the balance within ourselves that exists inherently but simply needs to be rediscovered by removing the obstacles that keep us from being our authentic selves and finding our connection with Jiva Atman, the unique spirit that resonates within all of us.

 

Fueled by her love of the practice and a passion for sharing in the gifts of it, Laurie G has dedicated herself to guiding explorations in yoga since 1999. Her intention infused, organically flowing sessions encourage a deep dive into compassionate presence and cultivate a sense of spaciousness in body, mind and heart. She is known for her resonant voice and ability to distill the wisdom of the teachings in a way that is both accessible and transformational. A certified teacher of ISHTA Yoga, Prenatal Yoga and Radiant Child Yoga, laurieG offers in home sessions, group classes & workshops. Ever a student (and lover) of life, laurieG weaves insights gleaned from her own studies, stumblings & epiphanies into her work on and off the mat. Increasingly her practice and teaching emphasize a slowly flowing and deeply going experience of wholeheartedness & peace.
Kira, RYT 200, has been teaching since 2010. She originally trained at Sonic Yoga in NYC, where she also apprenticed with master teacher Stacey Sperling. She has training in anatomy and physiology at the college level, Reiki, and Thai Yoga Massage. She believes in the healing power of breath, movement, and touch! She teaches a juicy vinyasa flow that will leave you sweaty and refreshed, but she also likes to break down postures for beginners. She is grateful for each and every unique student who comes to class.
Tam Turse found yoga many years ago while working as a public relations executive, learning to love the balance of the physical practice and the mental peace. In 2015 she completed her 200-hour training and continues to expand her area of study, including in the area of yoga for athletes. Her focus is to bring a dynamic physical practice to her students. In addition to being a yogini, Tam has completed her Pilates Mat 1 and 2 training. She is also an active runner, recently completing her 4th marathon in 4 years. After stepping off the mat from a class with Tam, she hopes that both your body and mind find the balanced blend of fitness, clarity and peace.
Strong, athletic and flowy are some ways Erica and her classes are described. One can expect a philosophical/spiritual component mixed with mind, body, breath connection that’s creatively and intelligently sequenced within a tapestry of slow, sensuous, rhythmic warm ups that blossom in gradients towards a peak pose. Moderate alignment, breath and meditation cues synthesize with time and space to relax the monkey mind and space is always allowed for intuitive movement.
Intuitive and sensitive, Erica’s philosophy is play hard, rest well and do no harm. Creative and inspired, Erica is a self taught yogini who after pursuing an Art degree from the Massachusetts College of Art and Design, went on to complete both a 200hr and 300hr yoga teacher certification from Kripalu Center
Chill dubstep, atmospheric beats, and traditional yoga music merge with the energy of each class. Anyone who likes a physical challenge, who wants to dive deep and be more balanced may truly enjoy Erica’s classes.. When Erica’s not immersed in teaching, she enjoys relaxing in nature with loved ones, being silly, watching sci-fi movies and getting right-brained in the ceramics studio. Erica leads workshops and retreats throughout the world. She has immense gratitude for all her teachers who are everywhere and in everything.
Jeffrey Vock is a professional photographer who just celebrated his 30th year of practicing yoga with Sri Dharma Mittra by getting certified to teach Dharma Yoga. His passion is to guide students of any asana level into deep relaxation, pranayama and meditation where they will reap the maximum benefits from this ancient practice.
Satya is a rebel yogi who teaches a strong flow that is not simply “fitness yoga” but real-world spirituality, challenging his students physically and encouraging them to explore Who They Are beyond their conditioning--while keeping a sense of humor about it all!
He is an E- RYT 500, having received his 200 hr. training at New York Yoga and his 300 hr. with Babaji Kria Yoga. He has been teaching yoga since 2006 and has been personal training since 1995. He is also a kickboxing instructor who won national and local competitions during his 7-year full-contact Chinese kickboxing career. He is a Reiki Master and has a Master's Degree in Herbology.
 
Jessica Namit is a Yoga Alliance registered yoga teacher and registered prenatal yoga teacher. Her teaching style is thoughtful and calming, and her soothing voice allows students to turn inward and focus on how each pose resonates within their own body.

She is passionate about communicating with her students in a way that is clear and down-to-earth. It is Jessica’s intention to provide information and encouragement as needed in order to create a safe and supportive environment where students can discover the wonderful benefits of yoga for themselves.

Jessica is committed to the idea that the things we do in yoga can improve our overall lives and ultimately help us be our best selves. She is grateful for the opportunity to share this transformative practice with her students.

Sam began her practice as a way to regain balance and strength after a severe ankle injury and to aid in coping with the battles of anxiety and insomnia. During her practice, she began to experience a deep connection to not only the body, but to her mind, that inspired her to share this passion with others. . Inspired to teach, she received her 200 hour teacher training from Pure Yoga (NYC). Her teaching styles root themselves in Iyengar and Forrest lineage. Her classes are infused with mindful movement, breath awareness, and flowing sequences that are designed to focus the mind and cultivate balance between strength and flexibility in the body. Instructing from the heart, Sam is dedicated to bringing self-love, self-motivation and self-adoration principles into every class and to making each student feel welcome, comfortable, and safe during her time spent with them on the mat. Samantha is known for her authentic, non-judgmental teaching style, including class themes devoted to Female Empowerment, Self-Love, and Personal Motivation. She hopes to inspire and empower her students during every class, which she believes makes the world just a little bit better each time.
Magda was introduced to yoga by her father at age eight and has followed the yogic path all of her life. She dove deeper into her practice in 2010 to find anxiety relief from the stresses and pressures of daily life. Once she found the benefits of bringing breath and movement into the body she could never look back.

Trained in vinyasa yoga through Bhakti Barn 200 RYT training, Magda incorporates the playfulness of vinayasa and the mindfulness of alignment, breathwork, and many other styles including Yin yoga and Restorative. She enjoys the personal connection cultivated between the student and the teacher. In addition to the 200 RYTT, Magda has continued her education by gaining additional certifications in Yoga for Back Care and Scoliosis, and Yoga Therapeutics..

She is forever grateful to the gurus and friends in her yoga community. When Magda isn't teaching or practicing yoga, she can be found working as an environmental specialist, on her bike, hiking, or traveling and enjoying the simple moments. Kishan Patel is a local instructor born and raised in Jersey City. He began his practice in 2013 to pursue mental and physical balance. Bred as an athlete playing basketball, training with gymnasts and bodybuilders, Kishan gained a conscious awareness of the body. Kishan received his credentials as a 200 hr RYT from Yoga to the People in 2016. Shortly after the leaving the fashion industry, Kishan began sharing his creative process through his practice. His classes are form and flow oriented leading students to build a better awareness of their body and encouraging a safe, playful and transformative practice. He is a firm believer in form following function, and if you function properly things will form themselves.
Ida is a 200 hour RYT having trained with the Yoga in The World school of yoga. Ida has practiced yoga and meditated daily for her entire adult life. From the first time she walked into a yoga class, “I found home.” Ida is also a licensed Psychotherapist with a strong focus on mindfulness, appealing to one's awareness in the present moment, while calmly acknowledging and accepting one's feelings, thoughts, and movements. Ida’s core belief is that we take our yoga off of the mat, and into the world. Yoga is a way of being. Her classes are designed to challenge her students, focus on the breath, and prepare them to sit for meditation. The asana sequences are often guided by the precepts of the Yoga Sutras, and infused with mythical storytelling. Ida’s classes will reflect her love, and knowledge of music. You can expect rock and roll, chanting, instrumental, and every type of music imaginable. Ida’s intention is to make yoga accessible to all through her own experiences and challenges, meeting each and every student where they are in body, mind and spirit.
